Stand-up Paddle Boarding for Teens
No previous Stand-up Paddleboard (SUP) experience is needed for this fun-filled water orientated camp! Using skills similar to kayaking, canoeing, and rafting combined, this activity is a fun alternative for water lovers. Campers will learn basic water safety, how to stand up and balance, and key paddle strokes for controlling the board and maximum efficiency. Participants should expect to get wet and have fun treasure hunting, playing games and racing. Participants must be able to swim and be comfortable in deep, over-your-head water while wearing a personal flotation device (life jacket). Min 4/Max 10
Provided: paddle board, life jacket, paddle, safety leash.
Bring: Wear comfortable clothes that can get wet (synthetics dry faster) and/or a bathing suit, hat with a brim, sunscreen, bottle of water, towel, any required medications and dry clothes to change into after camp (optional).
Location: Goss Lake Public Boat launch. Option for the final day at the Langley marina, TBD by instructors, students, and parents.
Instructors: Whidbey Island Kayaking guides, who are certified SUP instructors and have experience and enthusiasm for leading programming for youth.
