Skyhawks Sports Academy

AGES 4–7

This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Our Mini-Hawk games and activities were designed to allow campers to explore balance, movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. Skyhawks staff are trained to handle the specific needs of young athletes.  Includes:  t-shirt, sport ball, and merit award.

Skyhawks is the country’s leader in providing a safe, fun, and skill-based sports experience for kids between the ages of 4 and 12. Sailing Camp

Learn to sail!

AGES 10+, BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE

Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to learn the basics of sailing with the South Whidbey Yacht Club!  Sailing is an activity that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.  Camp combines shore side learning with lots of hands-on, on-the-water sailing experience and each sailor will be assigned their own boat. In addition to sailing, students learn boating safety, basic seamanship and knot tying. The focus is on sailing and having fun.

Requirements:  Each student must demonstrate the ability to stay afloat for 2 minutes without a life jacket.  The Intermediate class is limited to youth who have attained a Level 2 competency at the beginner level and are 12+ years of age, or by permission of the Program Director.

More Information:  A detailed description of the class and your responsibilities can be found at www.swyachtclub.org/programs. A welcome message will be emailed about one week before the first class with last minute details and any changes that may have occurred.

Instructors: These classes are offered in partnership with the South Whidbey Yacht Club.  The Head Instructors are US Sailing certified and will be assisted by experienced dinghy sailors.  Sufficient staff will be on hand to ensure each participant receives personal attention.  Our priorities are safety, fun and learning.

Location:  The first morning, Beginning Campers will meet at the Honeymoon Lake Clubhouse for swim assessment and orientation, then that afternoon and the rest of the days will be at the sailing site (see www.swyachtclub.org/programs for sailing site updates).  Returning sailors do not need to be swim assessed again, but should attend this orientation session.  Parents and drivers are encouraged to join us at this orientation class.  Intermediate students will meet directly at the sailing site.
