Socialization Basics, First-Aid, and Disaster Planning for Dogs – CANCELED
ADULTS*
What would you do if your dog needed first-aid or what you would do in case of a natural disaster with your pet? In this class, you will be reviewing dog disaster plans and basic Red Cross dog first-aid. The class will also teach leash & voice control and have you work with your dog to be comfortable & social with others, and a basic introduction to teach your pet how to have fun with different dog sports.
Pre-requisite: Participants must be able to keep physical control of their dog. We reserve the right to restrict any dogs’ participation for any reason, for the safety of other dogs and participants.
Bring: Collar, 4’ leash, harness with chest-pull D-ring and/or flat collar pre-approved by instructor, treats, comfortable shoes/clothes, and current proof of current dog vaccinations. The first 15 minutes of the first class will be without the dog so you need to have a place in your vehicle for your dog. I will be taking time with each of you after the first class.
Instructor: Jan Skewes has trained dogs, including service animals, for over 28 years and is a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator. She has won over 60 AKC novice and intermediate titles in agility, herding, scent work, and hunting. Jan is also an AKC ‘Trick Dog’ evaluator for rescue & purebreds and is a Certified Search and Rescue Tech 3. janskewes@whidbey.com
