Rowing Clinic
ADULTS & YOUTH AGES 13+
Offered by the Island Rowing Association (www.islandrowing.com), this total body workout will strengthen arms, legs, and core, while increasing cardiovascular endurance as well as provide the fun and enjoyment of being out on the water. Little or no rowing experience required. We teach new rowers to scull (rosing with 2 oars with 1-3 other people) in stable boats so they can more quickly understand the mechanics of rowing, gaining flexibility and independence for your future endeavors in the sport.
During class, participants will learn about the different types of rowing equipment and vocabular. The first class may be partially land-based. Once basic skills are acquired, we progress to the on-the-water portion where participants will receive instruction rowing in a scull with two oars. Participants must be able to swim independently.
Bring: Tightfitting clothes, hat, glasses, watershoes or athletic shoes that may get wet, towel, water. Rowing equipment and personal flotation devides will be provided – please note size height & weight on registration.
