About JM and The Recipe:
JM and The Recipe bring together local Whidbey Island musicians from a variety of backgrounds playing your favorite cover songs and your soon-to-be favorite original songs. Rhythm guitarist and vocalist Michelle Molner honed her craft in Nashville, writing her own material and performing at local Nashville haunts. After moving to Whidbey Island, Michelle met fellow vocalist Jonathan Bowers and violist Bev Heising. Jonathan’s huge presence and powerful vocals fill up a room, while Beg Heising’s fiddle stylings add that special sauce. With the addition of Jing Jing Tsong’s magical cello playing, The Recipe was born. People find themselves tapping their feet, singing along and outright dancing to the catchy tunes that JM and The Recipe churn out. With a compelling mix of oldies, classic rock and original tunes, JM and The Recipe know how to bring energy and enthusiasm to venues both large and small.

Concert in the Park: Moonlight Swing Orchestra – Rescheduled to July 24

South Whidbey Parks & Recreation will be hosting its annual Concerts in the Park series on select Wednesday evenings this summer. Around 200-300 folks turn out each evening, taking advantage of a beautiful park setting and great music on the green grass. These concerts foster strong connections, providing opportunities for our community to enjoy a high quality, free evening of musical entertainment together.

This year’s concert series kicks of with a favorite of ours, The Moonlight Swing Orchestra. With well over 200 years cumulative experience, the Moonlight Swing Orchestra consists of an eclectic group of musicians – instrumentalists and vocalists – many with professional experience, and the rest, talented amateurs, who all share the same love of performing nostalgic music from the Big Bands.

Hear the great sounds of Dorsey, Ellington, Miller, and Shaw, among others. Romantic ballads and waltzes, snazzy fox trots, upbeat latin tempos, and, of course, wonderful east and west coast swing.

Playing together for over 15 years in the Greater Seattle and North Sound areas, the band is usually comprised of 17 instrumentalists and one or more vocalists, providing the classic sounds of the Big Band Era. Listen to that Big Band sound and come dance on the grass! Generously sponsored by Whidbey Telecom.

The band will play a nonstop set from 6:00-7:30pm on Wednesday, July17 at South Whidbey Community Park. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to catch their show!
