Volunteers

Have you ever thought about volunteering but weren’t sure about what to do or how to get started? If so, South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District has a number of opportunities for you to volunteer to enrich your community. The success of many of our programs and events depends directly on the efforts of our volunteers! And there’s a bonus: volunteering can be fun! The program also provides an excellent opportunity for high school students to earn service learning hours, and for college students to obtain valuable work experience. Below you will find a sampling of upcoming volunteer opportunities.

2025 Levy Pro/Con Committee Member

Every 4 years we here at the Parks District put in front of the voters an operation Levy. This is what pays the bills to keep us open. In preparation for this November’s election, we are required to recruit residents who would be willing to be part of a ‘pro’ or ‘con’ committee for this levy and work together to write a statement for the voter’s guide and a rebuttal.
If you would be interested in being considered for either committee, please reach out to Brian at by July 15th

Programs

Volunteer Coaches for our Athletic Programs
We need volunteer coaches to provide positive guidance for youth in our basketball league. We strive to provide a fun environment which realizes and challenges each participant’s playing potential while maintaining the integrity of disciplined and fair “Team Play”. Coaches receive free registration for their child. Coaches must attend the Skills Evaluation for their appropriate age group. Coaches should be available for the coach/referee meeting also.
