The Kids Workshop

Join us for these fun kid-oriented explorations into handicraft. Advance registration required.

The Kids Workshop Overview

Age ranges listed are suggestions. As parents/guardians must be on hand, younger kids may fit in too, and older kids are welcome if interested. Small groups may schedule separate dates/times by emailing programs@whidbey.com. If a parent/guardian would like to have the supplies to craft along with their child, just register separately and leave a note about which child they go with.

In-Person Location: If conditions and COVID guidelines permit, The Workshop will be held in the picnic shelter near the playground at Community Park. If weather is poor, we’ll meet in an empty maintenance building, with the door rolled open for ventilation. Temperature will be chilly either way! Class sizes will be small to allow distancing between households. Since we’ll be located next to Castle Park Playground, I recommend saving time to enjoy the playground before or after the workshop. It will be on their minds when they get near it!  Classes may be moved online as necessary.

Grab & Go Options are available for most Workshops if you’d prefer to work at home.

Coordinator: Recreation Supervisor, Carrie Monforte (360)221-6788 programs@whidbey.com

Bring: Cloth face coverings to be worn for duration of program, hand sanitizer, dress warmly and for messes. Something for warming hands would be helpful.

Optional: You may bring unusual hardy greens or your favorite ornaments to embellish your wreath.

Online Art Workshops for Kids

For ages 8-12 years

Engaging art workshops at home. Nature can be a wonderful source of inspiration that teaches us about form, line, color, relationship, movement, rhythm and story. In this series of 3-day workshops, children will have the opportunity to explore the arts, culture and folk lore of different cultures and their relationship to the natural world around them. Choose one session, or join them all.

These workshops will be organized as ZOOM online conferences which are super easy to join. Links will be sent to parents the day before the workshop and parents are welcome to join in the creative fun as well. Kids will be able to continue working on their artworks after the online workshops are concluded if they feel inspired.

Parents will collect GRAB AND GO Art Kits (which will include many fun art materials for the children to use in these classes) by appointment after registering for the workshop.
